As a little girl, you always dream of your wedding, what your wedding will look like, and who will be a part of it. As you grow older, you begin dating and you finally find that person you see yourself being with for life then you begin to think how to go about the marriage conversation without sounding desperate. Judas and I always had open communication, so he knew that I was dating with a purpose, what my intentions were, and vice versa. I knew he loved me and wanted to marry me.  However, the question was when being that I felt the clock was ticking ...lol. If anyone knows anything about me it's, that I do not talk about my relationship with anyone. However, this one particular day in June 2019, I met with a friend.  She asked me what was going on with Judas and I.  After pouring out my heart about being ready for marriage yet not knowing when the proposal would happen, she said to me to go home and have a hard conversation with Judas.  She said to give him a deadline.  Futhermore, she said to let him know under no uncertain terms, that if we didn't begin to make solid wedding plans, that I was willing to walk away. After getting fired up...lol, I went home and followed her advice. Fast forward, November 26th, 2020, Thanksgiving Day which my birthday fell on that year, Judas informed me he had to work. I had been up all morning cooking while he was getting "dolled up".  I just knew he was going to have me prepare what was supposed to be his dinner contributions, so of course he was "running late for work" and asked me to finish making his portion of dinner...lol. He had his full uniform on and really rushed out the door as if he was going to work. Now I'm tired, I've been up all morning slaving over a stove, and I literally put on the most comfortable dress I could find in my closet. A few hours later my family is at the house and if anyone knows my dad you know he loves speeches. He asked everyone to say a few words to me for my birthday and as everyone is giving their speech I see Judas' cousins, friends, and God-sister walk in.  I didn't think much of it at the time then just as the last person spoke, Judas walked in! I was so surprised then I was so confused because I knew it wasn't pass the time he was suppose to get off of work. As he started speaking to me, I started to realize this was the day I would be saying "I Do".

Growing up in a broken home marriage was never discussed. It seemed to be something that only happened in books . I knew that I wanted marriage.  I just wasn’t sure if it would ever happen in this lifetime. Finally, I met a woman who was raised opposite of what was going on in my household. She expressed to me that she couldn’t wait until she was married . As time went by, I realized she was the one.  I definitely knew I wanted to marry her, but, I procrastinated because I had no idea when or how to start. One day she expressed to me that time is ticking and if we weren’t going to take the next step, it was time to go our separate ways. I knew I wasn’t letting her get away and decided to be the man I knew I was born to be. One day I was driving her parents to the airport and decided to utilize that time to ask if I could have their blessing in marrying their princess. I promised them that I would always protect, provide, and profess my love to her everyday.  Furthermore, I assured them that I would never put my hands on her. I couldn’t let her mother know my plan on when and where I would be proposing. Her father was my inside man...lol, he always let me know when they were snooping and trying to find out information. He saved me one day by calling and telling me to get the mail out the box because I had an invoice he knew they would open if they got a hold of it . I didn’t even want them to know I had purchased a ring.  At this point all my close friends and family told me to write a speech.  I refused to do that because I wanted it to be organic rather than scripted. It took my sister and I months to find a ring I was happy with, but, we did it. On 11/26/2020 which was Thanksgiving and also her birthday I was able to get the day off of work . I didn’t tell her I was able to get off, so she thought I would be missing her birthday . I got dressed and rushed out as if I was late for work;  Leaving her to finish my cooking duties. She had no idea I was at a friend's house waiting for everybody to get where I needed them to be. I made certain to stay in constant communication with her dad and made sure to delegate to him the most important task which was to play Why I Love You, by Major, in the middle of my speech . Eventually, I arrived and waited for her dad to give me the signal that everybody had given their speech and it was my turn to make my grand entrance.  I don’t know if it was my words or her tears, but, more then half the room was crying by the time she said YES .
