Bride

Judas and I knew each other for years, being that he grew up with my family. Judas always Yearned for me...lol.  Much to his dismay, I was in a relationship, so I would just brush off his advances. Fast forward to 2014. I had just gotten out of the relationship and here comes Judas! Mind you I hadn’t seen him in a few years. In hindsight, this was God giving me what He knew I needed. I told Judas I was finishing college and I wasn’t interested in a relationship, but, we could be friends. We truly were just friends and as always he was very persistent. He would come visit me at college, he would send me money to come home when he couldn’t travel to Virginia, he participated in all of my memorable events, and he loved my family as if they were his. What put the icing on the cake was that he always put me first. He never did anything if I wasn’t there and always made sure I was included in everything;  Just as an example, one time he had hosted a barbecue, but, I had a prior engagement scheduled for the day.  I informed him of the conflict since I knew I was going to be late. I came to find out that he refused to allow anyone to eat until I arrived.  Keep in mind I was hours late. He had everyone mean mugging me when I finally made it ...lol. It goes to show that he didn’t care how everyone else felt.  It was always about me and I thank God every day for him. I remember after my break up how I prayed for him. I remember asking God to send me someone who was kind hearted, listened, was expressive, put me first, was loyal, believed in God, and a host of other qualities. He isn’t perfect and neither am I, but, this is our story and it’s only the beginning.

Yvonne’s family has always been my family, I grew up with most of her immediate family. Her grandmother and Aunty Annette always treated me like I was their own. I knew Yvonne, but really knew nothing more than I always called her father Uncle Larry. At some point I realized how beautiful she was. As I got to know her I realized that not only was she beautiful on the outside, she was equally beautiful on the inside. She is an amazing person and so different from the type of women I was used to. She was the woman I had imagined myself marrying when I was a kid, but after being heartbroken I no longer believed that this type of woman existed. In 2014, Yvonne & I decided to become friends because that’s all she would allow after getting out of a long term relationship. I was trying to get her during her previous relationship and wasn’t successful, so I had plans for this friendship to become so much more. I was brutally honest with her about my lifestyle and I showed her who I was and she never judged me. Eventually, we started dating, and life instantly got better for me.   I was experiencing happiness in its purest form. We began to take trips to see one another since she was still in college, we went on vacations, and she made me get out of my comfort zone. I quickly realized I had to get my life together because I couldn’t lose what I felt was my fairytale woman in real life. I got my CDL and never looked back. We hit quite a few bumps on the road but managed to get past them together. I know there will be more, but, I also know we can get through anything together because GOD got us and we got each other always.
