FLIGHTS:
Since we are booking a year in advance, flights are not available yet at this time. You will be responsible for booking your flight. Debbie will be able to do this through Liberty Travel as well if you are not comfortable researching and booking flights online. You will be able to search around for the best/cheapest flights and some websites even let you set up a notification for when flights become cheaper. If you have air miles you can fly with your usual airline and redeem your air miles. **I just signed up for the VentureOne credit card through Capitol One that gives 20,000 bonus miles after making $1,000 worth of purchases within 3 months. 20,000 points = $200 worth that you can use towards any flights. Do some research on credit cards you may qualify for that have these types of perks for your flights!
Travel tips:
1. YOU NEED A PASSPORT TO TRAVEL. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ONE, I WOULD DO THIS AT LEAST 6 MONTHS BEFORE THE TRIP TO MAKE SURE YOU GET IT BACK IN TIME.
2. Some of the restaurants require guys to wear long pants, no cut off shirts, and no flip flops. Make sure you have appropriate clothes to wear. This resort has NO reservations which is nice. Also, no wristbands here.
3. The rooms at the resort are being held from April 5th-12th (Nick and I will be arriving on the 5th) so you can travel any time within that week. If you want to go before or extend those days please contact the travel agent and she will assist you with booking.
4. A YETI cup or similar is a great thing to have at these all inclusive resorts. They will give you a little plastic cup that will get warm quickly. If you bring your own mug they will keep filling the whole thing up for you and it will stay nice and cold.
5. We usually just take 1 carry on luggage and 1 personal item on the plane to avoid going to the luggage pick up and to avoid having our luggage damaged or lost. Make sure you don’t have any liquid items (ie. shampoo, toothpaste, face wash, etc.) in your luggage that is over 3oz and it should be in a clear plastic zip lock bag.
6. When you arrive at Punta Cana Airport, the Dominican Republic charges a fee to enter their country. You will need $10 cash for a “30-day tourist card”.
7. DO NOT HESITATE TO CALL ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR NEED ANY OTHER INFORMATION. WE CAN’T WAIT TO SPEND OUR SPECIAL DAY WITH ALL OF YOU. |
