I couldn't ask all of our friends and family to join us in a place that neither of us have ever been to-so it was the perfect excuse to visit the venue. My mom joined me this past December on a last minute trip to Dreams resort & spa in Tulum. A quick 2 hour flight. We had transportation pre-arranged & it was super easy.
The drive to Tulum from Cancun is 1.5 hours but it seriously did not feel like that long. (We will be doing group shuttles- so hopefully it will feel more like a party bus ;))
The resort itself is older. It's a nice hotel but nothing fancy and semi out-dated. I fell in love with the unique character and wedding options!
Mom & I upgraded to a swim out suite & I knew we had to have the wedding party do the same! It even comes with your own private butler to serve drinks.
I will make a separate blog about what to expect with food and drinks, I found them to be mediocre, & you kind of have to search a bit to find what you like! Also, make sure to be aware of restaraunt times and the possibility of waiting in line. We noticed lines were busy right at dinner/opening time. There are plenty of options with something open at all times.
The beach was nice, they kept the seaweed cleaned. The swimming area is a little to the side of where the lounge chairs are, but only swim in the swim area, because we found the other area to be super, super rocky! Mom and I learned on the way out, that you have preferred club access with the swimout suite, which included a premium & private beach bar and loungers.
The swim up bar in the pool was super fun! Moms favorite drink was a mango tango, I liked the Miami vices. They have tons of options, but I did notice they weren't very creative, so get some drink ideas in mind before you go and they'll make it! They serve canned beers, no draft.
The entertainment and customer service was amazing! There was literally always something to do & they quickly got to know our names! (Tips help, I'm sure.)
They had the resort decorated for Christmas. They even had a grinch & Santa show up on the beach for photo ops.
